Activities at Driftwood Resort

The whole family will love the great activities here at Driftwood. With plenty of toys and activities to keep the kids busy, parents will find plenty of time to sit back relax and enjoy their Minnesota vacation. Driftwood offers a nice sandy beach along with a playground, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe pit, lots of toys and a canoe. You’ll find a large selection of ice cream treats and candy bars in the main lodge. Driftwood resort also offers several activities during the week including a Marshmallow Roast, a Pot Luck Supper, and an ongoing fishing contest. The fishing contest is open to all resort guests with weekly and annual prizes for the largest fish in several species. We have the boats, motors, gas, bait, tackle and fish cleaning house - all you need is your skill and maybe a little luck!

Fishing
Looking to do some northwoods fishing. Driftwood resort rests on the shores of one of Minnesota’s top walleye fisheries Sand Lake. Sand Lake is a 4,300 acre with depths of up to 70 feet and has access to 6 other lakes along the Bowstring Chain. Explore the Northwoods
Sightseeing anyone? Located in the Heart of the Chippewa National Forest Driftwood offers great opportunities to view all that the north woods has to offer. The Chippewa National Forest is rich in bird and other wildlife viewing. Don't be surprised to have an eagle soar over your car, a grouse wander across the road Sightseeing on Sand Lake - Driftwood Resortor see loons alongside your boat. If you're looking for hiking, walking or biking trails there are several places close to Driftwood; most notable the Suomi Hills area and the Joyce Estates. The Fall Color Tour, historically beginning in mid September and lasting till the beginning of October is one of the most amazing sights of the north woods. Watch as the many different species of trees turn their leaves yellow, orange, red, and all the colors in between, in preparation for the long winter ahead. Do you enjoy a beautiful lake & sunsets? Large portions of Sand lake are held in state and federal hands, giving you miles of undeveloped shoreline to explore guaranteeing that northwoods feel. Hunting
Weather you’re an experienced hunter or taking your first hunt you’ll know this to be a hunting paradise. Our resort is located in the heart of northern Minnesota's premier hunting grounds in the Chippewa National Forest where hunters find excellent hunting for black bear, grouse, ducks, and deer in the hundreds of acres of open hunting ground. Driftwood welcomes and encourages you to bring your favorite hunting dog this fall and try our grouse & duck hunting. For that "really big game" hunter, the season for Minnesota Black Bear opens at the end of August. We have a tremendous abundance of whitetail deer in the area. Hunting groups nearly always fill out their tags. Whitetail Archery season begins in mid-September and firearms season begins in early November for your Minnesota deer hunting experience.
