We invite you to experience our special brand of Northwoods hospitality with a traditional, relaxing Minnesota family vacation at Driftwood Resort.

Driftwood resort is located on the northwest shore of Sand Lake, a top walleye fishing lake in Itasca County. We are located 41 miles northwest of Grand Rapids, MN and 26 miles north of Deer River, MN. Our six cabins are nestled in 10 acres of pristine northwoods at the heart of the Chippewa National Forest.

The lake view from the cabins is fantastic. Don't forget to take advantage of weekly float plane rides.

The anglers in your family will delight in the tremendous fishing here on Sand Lake. This 4,300-acre lake has a maximum depth of 70 feet and boasts an abundant supply of walleye, northern, bass, jumbo perch, crappie and panfish, with immediate access to six other area lakes.

Children are extra special at Driftwood Resort! Your young ones will find plenty of toys and activities to keep them occupied while mom and dad get time to relax and enjoy their vacation. In addition to our sandy beach, we have a nice playground complete with swings, slide, and climbing area. There are lots of toys to play with and you will also find a canoe, basketball, volleyball, and a horseshoes pit. Of course we stock a full selection of candy and ice cream treats to choose from because, after all, it IS a vacation!

Our resort activities include a Marshmallow Roast, a Pot Luck Supper, and a visit to an area nature center. The resort hosts an ongoing fishing contest open to all guests with weekly and annual prizes for the largest fish in several species. We have the boats, motors, gas, tackle, bait and fish cleaning house - all you need to bring is your skill/luck!

We keep our cabins neat and clean.

The resort offers six comfortable housekeeping cabins, all with tremendous views of the lake. All cabins are two bedrooms with maximum occupancy of four to six people. You will find each cabin to be exceptionally clean and equipped with coffee pots, toasters and a full compliment of pots, pans, dishes, glassware and silverware. Every cabin has its own BBQ grill, picnic table and lawn chairs.

In the evening you can gather with family and new-found friends around a roaring campfire. As the sun goes down and the moon and stars come up, you'll compare fish stories and fill the night sky with laughter and smiles. Relaxation in the Northwoods doesn't get any better than this...
